Always on My Mind

大好きな曲の中で、Wilie Nelsonが歌うAlways on My Mindというラブソングがある。

元々Brenda Leeが1972年に歌い、Elvis Preslyがカバーした曲。

1982年にWilie Nelsonが歌い大ヒットした。

最近ではPetshop Boysもカバーしている。

聞き比べをしてみたが、やはりWilie Nelsonの味のある声が一番素敵だ。

Wilie Nelsonは、1933年生まれだから今年で77歳になる。

1950年代から活動をはじめ、1970年以降にヒットを放ったカントリーの大御所だ。

ヒッピー風の身なりでアウトロースタイルを今も通すかっこいいおじいちゃんだ。

現在は、ジョン・メレンキャンプとともに、困窮するアメリカの農家のためのチャリティーイベント「ファーム・エイド」の活動や、バイオディーゼルの普及活動に取り組んでいるそうだ。

このAlways on My Mindだが、恋人とのこれまでのことを振り返り、いかに彼女を愛していたのに彼女に対して何もしてあげられていなかったことに気づき、もう一度チャンスをもらえるなら君を喜ばせたいと歌うバラードだ。

You were always on my mind（君はいつも僕の心の中にいた）と繰り返し歌うNelsonの歌声が素敵なのだ。
